The Millennial Muse Stuns in Vintage Mackie

A month prior to the TIME 100 Gala, Zendaya was named one of TIME’s Most Influential People of 2022. She attended the star-studded event in a showstopping vintage Bob Mackie dress first worn by Cher. Zendaya is only the latest style icon to celebrate the timeless elegant designs of Mackie, who has been designing costumes and fashion since 1963, and whose eponymous fragrance line launched 30 years ago.

The stunning dress Zendaya selected features blue, turquoise and black color-blocking velevt and silk panels and a deep-v constructed neckline. As for luxury accessories, she wore a sparkling Bulgari High Jewelry necklace with more than 49 carats of diamonds and three diamond rings set in platinum. For beauty, she complemented the dress with turquoise shimmery eyeshadow and a natural glossy lip. He hair was sleek in a center-parted blowout.

Mackie had granted access to archival dresses to Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach for this occasion.

“I’m so grateful that I have been granted rare access to some of the most amazing archives,” Law said. “This Bob Mackie is one of the most special! Thank you Mr. Mackie for trusting me. I’m so honored you even know my name.”

The rare number, from the brand’s Fall 1998 collection, was first worn by Cher, Mackie’s famous muse for whom he crafted her most iconic looks.

Zendaya choosing to step out in the dress proves the timeless relevance of this renowned designer and the power of his creations to make bold statements for decades to come.
